In fashion, there are trend-setters, trend-followers, and there are labels that withstand the test of time. Ramona LaRue is one of those labels. Since launching its first collection in the Fall of 2008, Ramona LaRue is the creation of Coconut Grove native Arianne Brown.
Named after her mother, Mona, this once-small line has grown to impressive proportions while staying true to its hand-crafted bohemian roots. Having grown up hand-painting silk dresses to sell on the streets of Coconut Grove with her mother, Arianne started Ramona LaRue as a way to cope with her mother’s death and pay homage to her craft of hand-painting silk pieces.
Having no intent of starting a fashion label, Arianne’s hand-painted pieces were immediately loved by stores and customers alike, and this idea quickly grew to be the successful company it is today.
While their prints are now professionally transferred to silk, each design starts off with a one-of-a-kind silk painting, water-color, or sketch, and is signed by the designer.
Their bold prints and strong bohemian silhouettes beautifully compliment any woman’s body and bring out the strong fearless confidence that Mona embodied, carrying on the legacy of a true Miami artist.
