Workout Spot is About Fitness and Building a Sense of Community

Meet Amner Pereira, a dynamic entrepreneur whose talents span multiple industries. As an accomplished realtor and yacht broker, Amner has made waves in luxury markets, but his true passion lies in fitness and building a healthier community. Through his leadership at The Workout Spot and the Coconut Grove Run Club, he has become a driving force behind the Grove’s fitness culture, inspiring local businesspeople and residents to stay active and connected.

Today we dive into his approach to fitness, his favorite moments with the Run Club, and how he helps others overcome challenges to reach their full potential. Through his work, he’s keeping the Grove fit and building a sense of unity along the way.

BID: Hi Amner! Let’s start with a fun one—what’s on your go-to workout playlist? What songs get you going for a session?

Amner: Lately, I honestly haven’t been listening to music at all when I work out. I’ve mainly been focusing on my breathing and tuning into myself. That said, when I do listen, I like Chris Brown and Afrobeat artists like Burna Boy and Wizkid.

BID: You’re known for your tailored approach to fitness. What’s the most unique workout request you’ve ever had from a client? Did you deliver?

Amner: I had an elderly client who wanted to increase their athletic performance. Over a period of six months, we worked on agility and fast-twitch muscles, addressing his concerns about movement and injury. By progressively building his abilities and eliminating the fear of aging limitations, he regained confidence, physical strength, and met his performance goals

BID: The Coconut Grove Run Club has gained a bit of traction (pun intended) since it started, even pro-boxer Jake Paul joined in! What was your reaction when you saw 500 people show up recently to run at Peacock Park?

Off and running at Miami City Hall with Boxer Jake Paul (center).

Amner: The event was amazing. It felt like something the Grove needed: a fitness-focused community coming together to sweat, network, and connect. Seeing that turnout really showed me how fitness-oriented and supportive our community is.

BID: How has being part of the Coconut Grove BID helped your business ventures and your community-focused fitness approach?

Amner: The BID has been instrumental in helping us connect with other businesses and organize events. They’re always supportive with promotion, planning, and finding creative ways to make things happen. Being part of this community has really helped the business.

BID: You’re big on both physical and mental transformation. How does staying fit positively impact the way we think?

Amner: They both go hand-in-hand. I feel the mental aspect comes first. You can look strong physically, but if your mindset isn’t right, it doesn’t click. I work on building mental strength alongside physical fitness. As an athlete myself, I lead by example—if I ask someone to run a certain distance, I’ve already done it so I know what it takes both physically and mentally.

BID: What’s one piece of equipment or technique you’ve introduced that’s really upped the game for your clients?

Amner: No question it’s the TRX Suspension Trainer. It’s versatile, uses your body weight, and allows for a full-body workout without needing a bunch of equipment.

BID: With your success in marathons and personal training, what’s next on your fitness adventure bucket list?

Amner: I’m definitely planning another race soon, but at the moment, I’m focused on helping my girlfriend train for a marathon or half-marathon. It’s a gradual build, but I’m excited to help her clock in a great time.

BID: What’s the secret sauce behind the Coconut Grove Run Club’s explosive growth? Social media, celebrity influence, or is it something deeper?

Amner: No doubt it’s the people. Everyone involved is genuine, supportive, and part of a growing network. We’ve built a family-like atmosphere, which makes it a very supportive and motivating space.

BID: If you could give one motivational shout-out to the Grove community to inspire them to get fit and join in, what would it be?

Amner: “Stay hard,” inspired by David Goggins. It’s about being tough, committed, and pushing through challenges. I also believe in keeping things exciting and avoiding routine—mixing it up to stay motivated.

BID: Lastly, aside from your business ventures, what’s your passion?

Amner: It would have to be spending time with my kids and girlfriend. For me, it’s all about balancing family and well-being.
