As Miami prepared for increased visitors during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Coconut Grove hosted “The Grove Cup,” a public watch party and neighborhood events that took place throughout the tournament.
“The Grove Cup” kicked off with a public Brazil vs. Morocco Watch Party at Peacock Park on June 13. Hosted at the iconic waterfront park located at 2820 McFarlane Road in Coconut Grove, the free community event featured live match viewing, music, entertainment, local food vendors, and activities for all ages. Guests were encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and jerseys representing their favorite teams for an afternoon at Peacock Park celebrating the World Cup.
Programming throughout the event included:
- The Grove Soccer Experience for kids
- DJ and live entertainment
- A halftime surprise
- A themed photo booth
- “Taste of the Grove” local food vendors
- Father’s Day weekend activities
From June 10 through July 10 at CocoWalk, visitors also experienced “Play the Grove,” an interactive art installation. Designed by MIRTH Studio (@knowyourmirth) in collaboration with estudioLAAVA (@estudiolaava). The deconstructed soccer pitch transformed into an immersive sculptural playscape inspired by the movement, markings, and energy of the game. Elements of the field were reimagined as larger-than-life interactive pieces designed to encourage exploration, play, and discovery for visitors of all ages.
“Coconut Grove has always been about community, and this is one of those moments where that really comes to life,” said Mark Burns, executive director of the Coconut Grove BID. “We were thrilled to welcome visitors and locals alike during the World Cup, whether it was watching a match, spending time walking the neighborhood, or taking in a waterfront view. We wanted people to enjoy Coconut Grove in a way that felt relaxed and welcoming, and I believe we certainly achieved that mission.”
Known for its walkability, waterfront parks, outdoor dining, and village atmosphere, Coconut Grove gave visitors a unique place to spend time outside of the stadium areas during the tournament. Many visitors booked accommodations at properties including Mr. C Miami Coconut Grove, The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, Miami, and Mayfair House Hotel & Garden. The neighborhood is easily accessible through The Underline, which offered another way to travel through Miami during the tournament.
Additional Grove Cup programming continued throughout the tournament, with restaurants, bars, and waterfront venues across Coconut Grove hosting watch parties, specials, and community gatherings for fans following the matches.
