When Silvia and Jaime Cavanzo opened GPS Graphic and Printing Solutions in Coconut Grove 15 years ago, their vision was straightforward: deliver quality printwork with the kind of personal attention that big-box shops won’t offer. What followed was something far richer.
Today, GPS is a full-service creative partner, handling everything from business cards and banners to full-scale space transformations and car wraps, all from their Commodore Plaza storefront. As they mark a decade and a half in the neighborhood, we spoke with Jaime about their craft, community, and what keeps them going.

Q. What does 15 years serving Coconut Grove mean to you? And how has business evolved since day one?
Our time in the Grove represents trust, resilience, and the ability to evolve with our community. What started as a print-focused operation has grown into a full-service creative partner. Today, we offer a more integrated approach, combining design, branding, and production, while continuing to refine our quality, turnaround times, and overall client experience.
Q. You describe GPS as an extension of your clients’ businesses. What does that look like in practice?
To us, it means going beyond execution. We take the time to understand each client’s brand, goals, and audience so we can offer thoughtful recommendations, not just print what’s requested. Earning that level of trust comes down to consistency, transparency, and delivering results that genuinely support their growth.
Q. What’s the most unexpected or memorable project you’ve taken on?
Some of the most memorable projects are those where we’re involved from concept through installation, particularly full-scale branding and space transformations. Projects like Victoria’s at LoKal and custom elevator wraps for MRC stand out, but truly, every client experience becomes memorable in its own way. Seeing a vision come to life and knowing we played a role in shaping that experience is always incredibly rewarding.
Q. Who are your typical clients?
We work with an eclectic mix, from small businesses and startups to more established brands. We support entrepreneurs in their early stages, while long-term partnerships with growing businesses allow us to evolve alongside them.
Q. How has GPS kept up with changes in print and design over the years?
Staying current means continuously investing in technology, materials, and production capabilities. In an industry that evolves rapidly, adaptability is everything. Just as importantly, we stay closely connected to our clients, making sure we’re keeping up with change and anticipating what’s next.
Q. How does being rooted in Coconut Grove shape how you do business?
Coconut Grove has a distinct creative energy and a strong sense of community. That environment pushes us to be detail-oriented and design-driven, while also maintaining a personalised, relationship-driven approach with all our clients.
Q. What’s your advice for a small business owner who has never worked with a print and design shop before?
Start with a clear idea of what you want to communicate, even if it’s still just a rough idea. The right partner will guide you through the process, turning your vision into something tangible. From there, it becomes a structured process of selecting the right materials, layouts, and specifications to best meet your needs.
Q. How has your relationship with the Coconut Grove BID supported your business?
The BID has served as a bridge for us. Their initiatives go beyond simple networking; they have created an ecosystem that promotes real local collaboration. Being part of this community has amplified our presence and allowed us to grow alongside the Grove.
Q. What’s next for GPS?
We’re constantly pushing boundaries, combining new software with new materials to continue refining our craft. Our focus is on giving clients a genuine competitive edge while taking pride in every project we deliver.
Q. Outside of running the shop, what’s your passion?
Creativity in every form. We’re deeply inspired by art, photography, and the culinary world, all of which share the same DNA of design and presentation. For us, inspiration is not a separate hobby. It’s the fuel that keeps our creativity fresh and constantly evolving.
